


The world's animal population has been declining due to deforestation and over hunting. This site includes three of these unlucky animals whose habitat has been lost because of the errors of man.
The Giant Panda is an endangered species, threatened by continued habitat loss and by a very low birthrate, both in the wild and in captivity. The Giant Panda has been a target for poaching by locals since ancient times and by foreigners since it was introduced in the west.
The Black Footed Ferret is a species of Mustelid native to central North America. It is listed as endangered by the IUCN, because of its very small and restricted populations.
Because Orangutans live only in a few places, and because they are so dependent on trees, they are particularly susceptible to logging in these areas. Unfortunately, deforestation and other human activities, such as hunting, have placed the Orangutan in danger of extinction.
